I graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, Georgia in 1991. I then attended the University of Georgia. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1995.
I began teaching at Holtville Elementary School in August of 1996. During my first year of teaching, I taught third grade. The following year, I moved to first grade. I have been teaching first graders for the remainder of my teaching career.
I was born in Edina, Minnesota. My family moved to Columbus, Georgia when I was four weeks old. I lived in Columbus until I went to college at the University of Georgia. I have three children: Haley, Braden, and Carson.
