Built in 1980, Holtville Elementary has transitioned from teaching students from Kindergarten through 6th grade to currently Pre-K through 4th Grade. The teachers of Holtville Elementary are dedicated to providing students with rich opportunities for intellectual, emotional, and social growth. HES provides a fun, stimulating environment that is both challenging and supportive.

     The students at HES exemplify the school motto of “Great Kids Doing Great Things at a Great School” with many learning opportunities. All students at Holtville Elementary have the opportunity to receive weekly Music Education. The Library Media Specialist for HES provides weekly engaging lessons that include monthly STEM activities, Civil Air Patrol lessons, and Storytime/Studies Weekly. Each 3rd and 4th Grade classroom is furnished with a set of Chromebooks, allowing a 1:1 student to device ratio. Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Students are provided two 45 minute lessons weekly in one of our two computer labs. Each classroom for HES is equipped with interactive projectors for teachers and students to use. STEM based opportunities for students are provided.

     Holtville Elementary is very community oriented with activities and fundraising efforts over the school year. The HES Student Council raises money to help support the local Holtville/Slapout Volunteer Fire Department and Elmore County Humane Shelter. Holtville Elementary hosts annual events such as the Harvest Festival and STEM night that welcomes the entire community to attend.

     Holtville Elementary is setting the bar with academics by scoring the highest in Elmore County on the Alabama State Report Card for the 2017-2018 school year with a score of 89/B and tying with a score of 92/A for the 2018-2019 school year. The Third Grade students at HES scored an outstanding 82 percent proficiency in Math for the 2018-2019 school year. HES has also seen a sharp rise in enrollment with an increase in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade by nearly twenty percent over the past eight years. The faculty of Holtville Elementary is proud to have all of its teachers 100% Highly Qualified (HQT) for their subject area.
